Thou shalt not sweat over guitar picks..
Have you seen turtle shell?
The best picks of all time are made out of a turtle shell. Turtle guitar picks are famous for their beautiful tone and loudness. The only problem is that turtles are endangered species and turtle shell is illegal to obtain since 1947.
So, just forget it. You'll pay hundreds of dollars for one pre 1947 turtle shell pick. That's the reason why the major pick manufacturers still chasing that elusive sound and feel in their quest to duplicate the Holy Grail. Experiments involve all natural materials, celluloid, processed animal protein and number of other exotic materials and minerals.

Gel Poly are see through picks.
Weary Polycarbonate picks
Polycarbonate picks made from a highly durable polymer. They are resistant to wear and have a slick surface. The tone is on the bright side. Most popular picks from all.
Curvy Celluloid picks
Celluloid is a traditional choice for the picks. Included here are the nonsense Tortoiseshell picks, not to be confused with Turtle Shell picks.
Cheeky Stone picks
I guess they are for stoned people :) I tried them few times and didn't feel comfortable. Some guitar players actually like them though.
