Top Three Best DUBSTEP Artists
Latest update - Scream and Benga are moving up really fast.
Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music with roots in London’s scene from 1999 onwards. Dubstep is distinguished by its emphasis on a high-tempo bass, dark mood, sparse rhythms, and it's largely instrumental.
I conducted survey during December and January on Last.fm, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and my personal musician's list to determine the best Dubstep artists
and here's the combined result of that quest:
Burial topped the chart.
Skream came second.
It's actually a tie between Starkey and Rusko.
Burial is dubstep producer from South London, England, real name - William Bevan. His Burial
album was released in 2006 which the Wire magazine named album of the year and it came 5th in the Mixmag 2006 Album of the Year list.
Skream is from Croydon, South London. Skream!
is often hailed as the ‘ambassador’ of the Dubstep genre. 2008 marked the launch of Skream’s own label ‘Disfigured Dubz’.
Starkey
is in Philly for a number of years. He was the 2005 Mid-Atlantic and North American Laptop Battle Champion.
Rusko
was born in Leeds, moved down to London to further advance his musical opportunities with Sub Soldiers label mate Caspa. His biggest hit is “Cockney Thug.” Rusko has built a name for himself as one of the most sought after producers on the dubstep scene.
